A Call to Nature @ Mass Audubon
10 Juniper Road, Belmont, MA 02478
Opening Reception: Saturday, February 11 | 1-3pm
Concurrent with Searching for Life, an exhibit featuring drawings and paintings that
Jenn Houle created during her 2016 residency in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Jenn has curated A Call to Nature, which is a contemporary spin on 16th-century curiosity cabinets that displayed a rainbow assortment of natural specimens for personal enjoyment and wonder.
Habitat’s ornate Georgian-style mansion serves as a perfect backdrop to display the assortment of publicly loaned photographs, artwork, and natural objects that embody the concept of "nature." Both exhibits explore the concept of nature, how it is valued, and our personal connection to animals and the environment. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Belmont Local Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
