This exhibit explores the universal desire to frame home as the center of our lives. Each artist may submit artwork that is a representation of home, and by extension, community. Artwork could be a literal depiction of home such as a house, neighborhood, schoolyard, or town; or it could depict your family, friends or the culture from which you came.
I am excited to have four pieces included in this show, two of which are new.
The “No Place Like Home” exhibit, timed to coincide with the Watertown Children’s Theatre 35 anniversary celebration, takes its title from The Wizard of Oz and Dorothy’s desire to leave Oz and return home by reciting the magical “No Place Like Home” mantra. The Cambridge Art Association (CAA) presents a non-juried show of still-lives.
“But in a still life, there is no end to our looking, which has become allied with the gaze of the painter; we look in and in, to the world of things, in their ambiance of cool or warm light, in and in, as long as we can stand to look, as long as we take pleasure in looking.”
― Mark Doty
“I try to construct a picture in which shapes, spaces, colors, form a set of unique relationships, independent of any subject matter. At the same time I try to capture and translate the excitement and emotion aroused in me by the impact with the original idea.”
― Milton Avery
Gallery Hours: Mon.-Fri. 9am-6pm & Sat. 9am-1pm
